For the last two years I have been in the territory of the partially recognized country of Northern Cyprus.

Due to the status of this territory, postal services here are somewhat unusual.
All incoming messages go through the intermediary post office Mersin-10 in Turkey, and outgoing messages are delivered directly by Northern Cyprus Post.

As a result, despite my PostCrossing account belonging to the Republic of Cyprus, you will receive not an ordinary postcard with stamps of the Republic of Cyprus, but a rather rare example with stamps of Northern Cyprus.

If you are interested in a direct exchange, you can send a postcard to the address below without prior approval - I respond to all postcards received.

I am gradually replenishing my stock of postcards with views of Northern Cyprus.
Sometimes I manage to find very rare options, literally one by one.
The cards were printed in Istanbul; unfortunately, the year could not be determined.

Appearance:

Must be sent without an envelope.
The more stamps, the better.

Subject:

Beautiful photos of cities and famous historical, natural and other remarkable places, very preferably without large catchy captions.

Beautiful modern illustrations.

Special interest:

Soviet space science fiction of the following series:

Other series of Soviet space science fiction are also of interest, but they are science fiction, not heroics, stories about space explorers and other propaganda.

So, as you may have noticed, the postal service in our village is extremely unusual.

To have a certain point of reference, I will provide statistics on the transit time of postcards and letters without registration and tracking.

Europe - 2-4 weeks.
Turkey - 3 weeks.
Malaysia - 4 weeks.
Singapore- 4 weeks.
Russia - 4-5 weeks.
Australia - 6 weeks.
USA - 6-9 weeks.
Japan - 7 weeks.
China - 14 weeks.


Received:
Europe - 4 weeks.
Russia - 4-5 weeks, 20% lost on delivery.
Australia - 8 weeks.

The rest - unknown.

You may be wondering where the postcards I sent to you begin their journey.

I have not seen any public mailboxes, but I have heard that they exist.

The easiest way is to send mail from the main post office.
There is a mailbox on the door of the department.


The same box, only much larger, is located in front of the entrance to the post office.


Here is the hero of our story from a different perspective.


Pay attention to the yellow walls on the post office building - above the light postal car. These are not just walls - these are two blocks of subscriber mailboxes. There are four more of the same on the wall around the corner.


You can look inside the post office through the open box...


And this is roughly what your postcards look like in my box.
My box is in the very top row, it is very long and it is absolutely impossible to feel the letters that postal workers usually put closer to the inside of the box.
So I look into the box using my cell phone camera.
And the box is also very old and therefore very dirty, I always get my hand dirty when I take your cards out of the mouth of the monster box


When I was looking for a couple of very important letters for me, I happened to visit the post office of one of the mountain villages.
The yellow part of the building in the picture is the post office.


The PO boxes here are much newer, 2-3 times wider than at the main post office.


Mail is carried to this mountain village in a tiny white car.


You won't believe it, but this is an electric car


Recently, in the center of a tourist area, I discovered something similar to an English classic mailbox, only yellow.


All that remains is to make sure that the box is still functioning and mail is being taken from it.
It would be a shame if its essence is to be a tourist attraction and not fulfill its original function.
Let us hope for the best.

Recently, in one of the small stores I discovered a set of postcards with Garfield.
I think it's worth purchasing for Postcrossing.
When images appear, I will update the message.

Impossible, but the fact!!

At the same time, I still haven't received a single postcard through postcrossing.
It looks like it’s time to give up on this disastrous endeavor and move exclusively to direct exchanges.

Today I sent another pack of a dozen postcards, most to distant countries.

After more than 4 months of participation in the official postcrossing, the results are frankly disappointing - 13 postcards were sent (+ 6 on the way) / only 1 was received.
At the same time, direct exchange postcards arrive regularly from different parts of the world.
Due to the above, my enthusiasm for official post-crossing has completely dried up.
However, I decided to make my modest contribution to exchanging postcards as a hobby and opened a postcard forwarding service.
Let's see if this is useful to anyone.
